Siren History

Siren Clothing is the creation of designer Rebecca Brimblecombe, who now works from her home studio near Noosa on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland.

Rebecca began her career in fashion in 1980, when she graduated with Distinction in Fashion Design from the prestigious London College of Fashion and launched the very first incarnation of the Siren label (simply called Siren) with a collection of body-con dresses and separates at Camden Market.

The genesis of the label name is partly a reference to the sirens of Greek Mythology: One of a group of sea nymphs who by their sweet singing lured mariners to destruction on the rocks surrounding their island, but also the modern interpretation of a Siren being a woman regarded as seductive and beautiful.

Following the success of the label in London, Rebecca pursued her love of travel and adventure by bringing Siren to Sydney, Australia in 1985. From humble beginnings at Paddington Market in Sydney, Siren soon progressed to become Siren of London and received an overwhelming welcome throughout Australia, stocked in over 80 boutiques and with customers in New Zealand and New Caledonia.

Rebecca won two of the top awards in the Australian Wool Fashion Awards in 1986.
Harper’s Bazaar featured a young Elle Macpherson wearing a selection of Siren of London designs in October 1987.

Since making a sea-change in 2001, Rebecca has operated her stall at the Original Eumundi Market, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and wholesales a very limited number of her sought-after designs to select boutiques.

January 2013 brought a move to a permanent shop at Eumundi Square, just across the road from the famous Eumundi Market.

September 2017 saw an exciting expansion to a second retail store, Pin Up Paradise, in collaboration with fellow local designer, Maya Owens (Razzama Dazzle) This gorgeous boutique is located in the heart of thriving Noosa Junction,  and is proving to be a must-visit destination for all vintage-style loving gals.

Following the success of Pin Up Paradise, with its easy parking and air-conditioned location, it became a simple decision to close the Eumundi Square shopette at the end of October 2019.

Now, after more than 39 years as the designer and owner of Siren Clothing, Rebecca continues to draw on her wealth of experience in expert pattern-making technique and is still filled with same passion for creating her own unique styles inspired by the gorgeousness of women.

Above all, she still thrills at the fulfilment which comes with making her customers look and feel fabulous!
